Ed was born in Ayr, 1947. Having served his apprenticeship as a carpet weaver he left to join the Royal Marines and retired in 1987 after 22 years service.
Deciding to enhance his worldly knowledge, he joined the Open University gaining a Diploma in European Humanities and, after six years part-time study, was awarded his BA Hons. It was during his studies that he found his love of art, being inspired by himself. Ed took up art fifteen years ago and, with no training, experimented with his new found passion. He became a member of the Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society and sold his work from local galleries. Since moving back to Scotland, Ed has become a member of the Moniaive and District Art Association and the Dumfries and Galloway Fine Art Society.
Ed, wife Linda and labradors Maisie, Tinker and Mac now live on the outer edge of the Dalveen Pass and are busy renovating their cottage and Ed's studio which is the old cow-shed.
